Job Description:

Technical Skills: +Ability to operate a broad range of multimedia and computer technologies. +Ability to produce multimedia presentations and resources such as interactive DVD’s, web-based materials, digital films, photographs, sound clips, etc. +Expertise in Dreamweaver, Final Cut, Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Angel/Blackboard/WebCt, and other production software. +Ability to design and implement systems to support faculty instructional excellence using technology. +Strong positive interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively, build effective working relationships, be a team-oriented leader and problem solve. +Effective supervisory skills, to include coaching and mentoring skills to encourage, inspire, and support employees in achieving the college mission and their individual professional goals. +Ability to manage budgets. +Ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Essential Functions: Leadership, Management & Vision +Enhance teaching and enrich learning by providing expertise in the application of multimedia technologies in order to create a learning environment that fosters innovation and promotes professional development. +Coordinate the creative production of quality media in a variety of formats in order to meet needs of faculty for classroom resources and to meet institutional needs for promotion and communications. +Lead and facilitate the Enhanced Technology Group, which serves as an advisory group for the development and use of technology in the teaching and learning environments of the college district. +Serve as a member of the District Infrastructure Group team in order to bring vision, ideas, and media integration to the forefront of new construction and renovations. +Collaborate with other departments in order to develop effective partnerships, maximize efficiencies and create increased opportunities to students, faculty and staff. +Develop an annual strategic plan in collaboration with media staff in order to position the departments for future developments and respond to the district’s strategic directions. +Facilitate an outcomes and assessment culture in order to accurately determine media strengths and address challenges. +Manage the media department located at each campus to maintain consistency and efficiency, and support the district’s common instructional goals. +Implement college policies and procedures; reviews and recommends policies relative to media services issues. +Orchestrate the production and setup of media resources for district college-related events. +Oversee the engineering, design, procurement and installation of instructional media systems; provide technical solutions and resources that best fit the equipment needs with least amount of expense. Instructional Integration & Design +Provide leadership and support for faculty and instructional programs through research, development, and implementation of appropriate technology and teaching techniques. +Provide consultations with faculty regarding instructional design and technical advances to instruction. +Assist faculty with integrating technology into instruction based on sound pedagogical techniques and instructional strategies. +Provide training in multimedia instructional design in order to guide and assist faculty in implementation of new technology for learning. +Manage the student Multimedia Labs; providing training, individually and in groups. Budget Management +Develop and administers media budgets in order to ensure fiscal responsibility, compliance with college and state regulations, and adequately match dollars to program needs. +Monitor annual expenditures for classroom media equipment and administer steps needed to equipment purchase and installation. Supervision +Supervise, lead, and evaluate media staff in order to facilitate a collaborative, flexible, responsive, creative and dynamic work environment. +Creates and maintains a supportive work environment that values and acknowledges the skills of staff and promotes on-going professional development in order to foster creativity, innovation and development in media programs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in media production, educational technology, instructional design, curriculum design, education or closely related field and significant related experience. Master’s degree in a closely related field preferred.
Salary:
Terms of Employment: This is a full time 12-month administrative exempt position. Work hours will vary with occasional evening work. Travel between colleges (Pierce College Fort Steilacoom and Pierce College Puyallup) is required. The anticipated start date is January, 2009. Annual salary is $63,000. A competitive benefits package is included.
